Purple Belt Tainan Dalpra Submits Black Belt At Artista Invitational

Even though belts can be a good indication of our level of skill in jiu-jitsu, many factors lead to a lower belt emerging victorious over an upper belt. It’s best to never underestimate an athlete just because of the color of the fabric around their waist.

This video proves this very concept. At the Artista Invitational, teenage Art of Jiu-Jitsu purple belt Tainan Dalpra managed to submit black belt Bill Cooper in their match. It’s worth noting that Dalpra has accomplished a ridiculous amount in the sport already — in other words, this clip is far more indicative of his high level of skill than Cooper’s lack thereof. It would be interesting to see what happens if these two get a rematch one day.
