In action this Saturday in Florida, two Gentle Art representatives left their bouts victorious. Defending his Art of Fighting heavyweight title, two-time world champion Marcio Pé de Pano easily overcame Dave Yost via submission. Another to use his Jiu-Jitsu to dispatch his opponent was Arthur Gogó, who tells GRACIEMAG.com how the event went.
“Pé de Pano threw some strikes and got the takedown. The guy ended up giving up his back and Pe finished with a rear-naked choke, real quick,” says Gogó.
Called up three days before the event, the Carioca didn’t suffer from lack of wind and got the finish too.
“My opponent, CT Turner, is a professional boxer and has really good wrestling. I knew he would take me down and that was precisely my strategy. In the first round, I landed on bottom and swept. I got on top and threw strikes. In the second, I let him take me down again, but I went for the kneebar, and tapped him out. The event promoter liked my performance a lot, even more so for having accepted at the last minute. I’ll fight again on May 22,” says Gogó in finishing.
