Stoked after a successful seminar tour around Brazil, Amaury Bitetti gave a lecture in the city of Fortaleza this weekend, where he provided lessons and stories GRACIEMAG.com readers can appreciate.
The first two-time absolute champion of the world and onetime UFC fighter left the locals slack-jawed. “I’ve been to countless seminars in my life, but this one was above average. I thought I knew a lot of stuff, but today I realized I don’t know anything,” remarked black belt Osmar Fontes of Team Ribeiro JJ. “We learned escapes and attacks for all situations. He knows a lot.”
To the over 60 people that crowded Clube Náutico, Bitetti also taught a lot of passes, as well as takedowns and tips on how to not get swept.
“The coolest part is that I get to work doing what I love most and share what I’ve learned with the students,” said Amaury, whose schedule remains busy. Next weekend he will be a special guest at the MMA event Mota Fight, in the town of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul State, and he has seminars forthcoming in Teresina, São Luís and Tocantins.
“It’s been a pleasure to visit and meet those who appreciate what I do. Now I’m focused on getting back to my former form, and maybe even compete at ADCC 2013—who knows? Traven requested an opponent, didn’t he? I’ll take him on,” Bitetti said.
