Mikey Musumeci, the reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion, is set for another challenge… This time against Sayan Khertek, a Sambo world champion – in a title defense fight!
The match was announced for January 13, via ONE Championship‘s social media:

Musumeci’s last fight was against Cleber Sousa, back in September. Having defeated Sousa and secured the title, “Darth Rigatoni” was asking for a match against a Sambo specialist.
Now, his wish has come true. Khertek is a 2022 world champion in Sambo – a title he won back in 2017 as well. And, although he is relatively unknown to the submission grappling audience, the 35-year old Russian is going to pose a dangerous threat to Musumeci.

But, despite the obvious challenge in front of him, the BJJ audience can be certain that Musumeci will compete with a full heart.
With a heart full not just of love towards competing, but also to Jiu-Jitsu itself:
What is incredible is that even though we are all from different countries, we all become the same when we are on the mat training.
Jiu-Jitsu teaches us that regardless of race, religion, or country, we are all the same!
We are all humans with the same love and passion, and Jiu-Jitsu can be used to connect us all.
