Mikey Musumeci has done it again! He faced Yemen’s first black belt IBJJF world champion, Osamah Almarwai, in a ONE Fight Night 10 submission grappling match – and got the tap with a Rear Naked Choke!
Mikey was pushing the pace from the first second of the match, constantly attacking Almarwai – his legs, for the most part.
However, as Almarwai successfully defended and with time running out, Musumeci went for the back… And locked in the Rear Naked Choke that earned him the win.

But, in the two months before the match, Mikey was going through a bout of depression.
It’s been difficult for him to get himself to train, as he admitted in the post-match interview:
The last two months were crazy for me.
I went through another depression time and I was barely able to even focus on training when I was so depressed.But, there’s a quote: “God is with those who are patient.” So I just stayed patient and I kept working hard, and now I’m here again, breathing.
And I’m blessed to be here now, I’m so blessed.
