Roger Gracie turns 33 this Friday, September 26.
The grandson of Carlos Gracie Sr. is still the most accomplished Jiu-Jitsu competitor of all times with 10 gold medals as a black belt in the World Championship.
From 2003 to 2010, he was always in the black belt open class final, with five silver medals and three gold medals.
He was never defeated in his own weight division and was never submitted in a gi competition as a black belt.
Other than that, Roger is also the only athlete to have submitted all his opponents in a world championship (2009) and an ADCC (2005).
Exactly from 2005, we have selected the ADCC open class final against Ronaldo Jacaré, Roger’s biggest rival.
The 2005 ADCC is Roger’s favorite moment of his career, as he told GRACIEMAG.com in a exclusive interview earlier this year.
“It was the hardest tournament I have ever entered. Despite being able to finish all my opponents, I wasn’t able to dominate any of my fights and most of them lasted more than 20 minutes and went into overtime,” he told us.
