No-gi Brazilian Nationals: here are the champions from the masters’ section

Guilherme Iunes topped the master-1 middleweight podium.

The audience present at Tijuca Tennis Club in Rio this Saturday was treated to the masters’ section of the Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship. Athletes from across the country traveled to the southeastern state to add to the spectacle — and try to nab a gold medal, of course.

Master 1
Guilherme Iunes topped the middleweight field, beating Leonardo Melo (GFTeam) in the final. Alberto Ramos of GFTeam Cachambi took first in the heavyweight division with a win over Lourival Neto (Ac. Atitude).

Master 2
Arthur “Gogó” César of GFTeam Cascadura first took bronze at super-heavyweight, and then came back to close out the absolute with his teammate Gleydson Sobrinho.

Also standing out were veteran João Roque (Nova União), who bagged the gold medal in the master-4 middleweight division, and Karlona Hipólito (Top Brother), who won the only women’s absolute title up for grabs by beating Denise Campos (Boca Team) in the master-1 age group.
