ADCC silver medalist Nicky Rodriguez will be taking on two-time ADCC champion Yuri Simoes in the next Who’s Number One event, scheduled for March 26.
FloGrappling announced the matchup today on social media after teasing Rodriguez’s involvement in the event hours beforehand. The match is the second one announced for the upcoming card; Gordon Ryan vs. Vagner Rocha was announced as the main event during the most recent WNO event, which finished off with Craig Jones submitting Ronaldo Junior.
The event will mark Simoes’ WNO debut. After taking time away from competition during a hectic 2020, he’s competed twice in 2021, first going up against Lucas Barbosa at BJJ Stars 5 and then Vagner Rocha in the main event of F2W 164.
By now, we all know how Rodriguez made a name for himself with his ADCC run back in 2019, going on to earn silver after losing to Kaynan Duarte in the finals. He’s since picked up wins against Bruno Bastos and Kyle Boehm, and he last competed at 3rd Coast Grappling: Kumite IV. He’s already looking to have a busy 2021, having recently been confirmed as part of the bracket for April’s 3CG 6 event.
Who’s Number One: Gordon Ryan vs. Vagner Rocha will take place on Friday, March 26 and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
