Nashville’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community is uniting to raise money for The Middle Tennessee Emergency Fund to aid victims of the recent Tornado that killed 24 people and caused close to $2 billion in damage. On Saturday, March 14th, Nashville MMA will be hosting “Fight For Nashville ” from 7:30AM to 3PM that includes seminars from the area’s top coaches, an open mat, lunch, and a 50/50 raffle give away sponsored by Carbyne Industries w/ some of their latest gear up for grabs. In addition to Nashville MMA, other area schools and coaches participating include: Guardian MMA, The Academy Nashville, Legion MMA, Warren Grace BJJ, Pedigo BJJ, Triangle Academy, Artista BJ, Gracie Barraa and Spring Hill BJJ. BJJ and MMA practitioners from all academies from around the Middle Tennessee region are invited to attend the event to raise money, learn from top coaches, and meet and roll with members of the Jiu-Jitsu community. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.
The full list of coaches teaching seminars includes:
Shawn Williams – Head commentator and analyst for FloGrappling and one of Renzo Gracie’s first American Black Belts. Williams is the inventor of The Williams Guard and is known as a “BJJ Encyclopedia” and for his in-depth and detailed coaching style.
Shawn Hammonds – Head Coach at Nashville MMA and Head of Team Shawn Hammonds Association, one of the largest and most influential associations in the southeast region. His impressive list of Black Belts includes the popular BJJ social media personality and competitor Nicky “Chewy” Albin and MMA fighter and Bellator contender John Salter.
Chad “The Beast” Hardy will be teaching alongside Shawn Hammonds. “The Beast” is a Black Belt under Team Shawn Hammonds Black Belt Nick Albin and is known for his aggressive submission oriented competition game. In addition to his instructional videos and reputation as a very exciting competitor, Hardy is known as a mental health advocate in the BJJ community.
Other instructions by Bruce Panyapol of Chonburi Muay Thia, Sean Patton of Legion BJJ, Bernard Au of Artista BJJ, Jimmie Lowrie of Gracie Barra, Tony Johnson and Itai Tirado MMA will also be included in the event.
