The Jiu-Jitsu community has been putting on a show when it comes to solidarity. Athletes and teachers get together and do seminars to raise funds to those in need. This time it was to benefit Fernando Tererê, one of Jiu-Jitsu’s greatest champions, struggle through the most difficult fight of his life. Hospitalized in Sao Paulo, the black belt who enchanted crowds with his on-mat antics is now trying to recover from drug addiction. Treatment is not cheap and, as Tererê comes from a family of modest means, donations are needed.
A student of the fighter since the days of TT team, Eduardo Cabral wasted no time in helping the teacher. This Wednesday, he held a seminar in Caieiras, Sao Paulo. The teacher managed to raise $ 900, which will be deposited into the account of the fighter’s uncle, Tio Barriga.
“At the seminar, I showed a video of Tererê’s fights and some moments from his life. Moreover, all the techniques we taught were ones he used to love to use. I also give my testimony about my great friend, mentor and idol, and told of things we had been through together and talked of his charisma,” says Cabral.
Those who participated in the seminar were students of Atitude Academy, of Professors Grilo and Coveiro, as well as athletes from other academies in the region.
