Mixed Martial Artist Dies After Fight

A mixed martial artist died after an MMA bout in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Rondel Clark, 26, fought at Cage Titans XXXV, which took place on Saturday at Plymouth Memorial Hall.

According to a post on Cage Titans’ Facebook page, Rondel died after “complications following his amateur bout on Saturday night.”

The New England MMA community lost one of our own on Tuesday morning; Rondel Da’twaun Clark passing away at Beth Israel Hospital due to complications following his amateur bout on Saturday night. Rondel was a cherished soul throughout his athletic career, known for his utter tenacity on the grid iron, grappling mats, and inside the MMA cage. We at Cage Titans extend our deepest condolences to the Clark family, who request no outside communications at this time.

The Massachusetts newspaper, The Enterprise, reposting a story from The Patriot Ledger, said Rondel’s fight was stopped two minutes into the third round due to a technical knockout.

After being knocked out, Clark was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was later taken to Boston.

Doctors are still not sure what caused his death.
