Mark Zuckerberg’s interest in a potential MMA fight against fellow billionaire Elon Musk may have been dissapeared, but the Facebook CEO is now setting his sights on a different challenge. UFC president Dana White recently discussed the possibility of Zuckerberg stepping into the octagon to face a professional UFC fighter.
There was significant anticipation surrounding a potential showdown between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, with even Dana White, the president of UFC, becoming a prominent advocate and promoter of the fight. However, following some remarks made by Musk, Zuckerberg grew upset. He stated that the social network “X” (formerly known as Twitter) owner was not genuinely committed to the fight, and as a result, Zuckerberg would seek new challengers for the confrontation.
According to Dana White, Mark Zuckerberg has shown interest in participating in an MMA fight and potentially stepping into the UFC octagon to face a fighter. TMZ reported that the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is enthusiastic about the prospect of organizing such an event for Meta’s 39-year-old CEO. While it may be challenging to envision the Facebook owner competing against an experienced UFC fighter, Dana has identified several other potential opponents for Mark.
“I have consistently maintained that Mark is a highly dedicated individual. He has a genuine passion for the sport and is diligently training. I believe he is genuinely committed to fighting in the UFC,” stated Dana White in an interview with TMZ.
Last week, Mark Zuckerberg made a post on his official “Threads” account, asserting that Elon Musk was not serious about the possibility of facing him. Zuckerberg emphasized his intention to compete against individuals who approach the sport with seriousness, thereby reinforcing the notion that the billionaire is indeed willing to fight in the UFC. Zuckerberg even shared a photograph of himself training in an octagon-like structure in a backyard setting.
“It is evident to all of us that Elon is not serious, and it is time to move forward. I proposed a specific date, and Dana White offered to transform this into a legitimate charity competition. Elon failed to confirm the date, then claimed he required surgery, and now he wants to train in my domain. If Elon genuinely desires to establish a concrete date and participate in an official event, he knows how to reach out to me. If not, it is time to move on. I will focus on competing against individuals who approach the sport with seriousness,” Mark wrote in his previous statement.
3x BJJ world champion Mickey Musumeci has trained with Zuckerberg and had this to say about him:
“He’s tough as F**k. He’s got that grind in him, and he’s really strong for his size. He’s also obviously so smart also.”
“He could do really well in BJJ or Jiu-Jitsu.”
When asked about if Zuck could hang with a pro MMA fighter, Musumeci said this:
“100% and he could beat a pro MMA fighter in UFC or One.”
One Championship CEO Chatri Sityodong also shared the same thoughts as Musumeci.
“He’s hard core, man. He’s already taking back yard fights in his cage. Taking real shots.”
