Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida once again proved he is the best at what he does.
In the final match of the ADCC West Coast Trials, Buchecha took on Rafael Lovato Jr. and defeated the MMA fighter with a commanding 6-0 victory.
Buchecha clearly looked like the bigger fighter and his size no doubt helped him get the early takedown after the tie up.
Lovato quickly pushed his way up, but Marcus took his back, took him back down, and went for a heel hook.
Again, Lovato worked his way out, but this time, it wasn’t without an accidental eye poke.
No harm, no foul, though.
What followed was minutes of pushing and collar ties (and Buchecha sending Lovato flying into the camera people). It wasn’t until the nine-and-a-half minute mark that Almeida scored a takedown and got the first points of the match.
The two came back up to their feet, and Lovato almost got his own takedown, but couldn’t.
The two stood up yet again, and Buchecha got the back, and tripped Rafael. Through he couldn’t get the mount, he got two extra points for the takedown, extending his lead to 4-0. Marcus fought in Lovato’s half guard, but the two stood up again.
With only two and a half minutes left and down by four points, Lovato had to know he was in trouble. He tried a double, but Almeida stuffed it and held him down. Rafael lay back and Buchecha went into his half guard.
As the seconds wound down, it was clear Marcus had the match won. Still, he thought he would end it in style by attempting an arm triangle. He couldn’t get it, but he extended his lead by another two. With a 6-0 lead and only seconds to go, the fight was all his.
Winner via points, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida!!!
