Metamoris 6 is set to take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in California. Mackenzie Dern was the first woman to beat Gabi Garcia at black belt. The two were set to fight again, but Gabi stated that Mackenzie refused the match when she heard she was going to face Gabi.
Gabi traveled down to California when she received her Metamoris 6 invitation. Gabi Told TATAME She was very excited to be representing women in jiu-jitsu. However, Gabi’s excitement died down when she heard Mackenzie would not be participating in the match.
Gabi says that Mackenzie’s refusal is a loss to women in jiu-jitsu, and it would have been a great fight. She also stated it would have been a great fight. However, Mackenzia has a different story explaining why the fight would not go down. She says she was going to fight Gabi, but the two did not have a price agreement. She also says she will fight Gabi if Metamoris pays her price. Mackenzie stated fighting for a low price would de-value women’s jiu-jitsu. She wants women’s jiu-jitsu to be a valued sport.
Mackenzie told her fans she was not running away from Gabi. She also stated Gabi was lying to her fans.
Mackenzie Dern’s reply
“@gabigarciaoficial you are lying to all of your fans. Ralek, just talked to me about money today. So there was no fight set up before. If you say you will give me your purse and your purse is more than what I want I will fight you Saturday. Tell your manager to come talk to me! @metamoris”
