Jon Jones‘ failed drug test has been officially confirmed.
Both the A sample and B sample came back positive for the steroid Turinabol. The news was confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Jones could now be facing a four-year suspension, as he is a repeat offender. However, it is unclear how long it will take for the UFC and USADA, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, to reach a decision on how long Jon should be suspended for.
Jon Jones is widely considered one of the best fighters in UFC history. He holds a 23-1 record in mixed martial arts, and his one and only loss comes from a controversial disqualification against Matt Hamil back in 2009. He is also notable for being the youngest UFC champion in history, having won the light heavyweight championship when he was only 23.
If Jones gets the four-year penalty, he will be 34 by the time he is allowed back into the cage.
