UFC Lightweight veteran Joe Lauzon has confirmed on his Sqor profile that he will be facing Marcelo Garcia Brown Belt Dream Team member Dillon Danis at Metamoris 6 in Los Angeles, CA on Satuday, May 9th. Although not confirmed, the match will likely be a NoGi contest.
Lauzon has one the top grappling games in the UFC and a reputation for putting on exciting fights. He owns a 24-10 record with 17 submission victories and holds the UFC record for post-fight bonuses with 13 bonuses. His most notable victories include former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver, former The Ultimate Fighter Champions Mac Danzig and Mike Chiesa, and former WEC Lightweight Champions Jamie Varner and Gabe Ruediger. He also dominated Nick the Tooth in a submission grappling match.
Danis is ranked as the #2 Adult Brown Belt in the IBJJFrankings.com rankings in both Gi and NoGi. His list of accomplishments includes
- 1st Place 2015 Pans Adult Brown Belt Middleweight Division
- Closed out 2015 Pans Adult Brown Belt Open Weight Division with teammate Matheus Diniz
- 2nd Place 2014 NoGi Worlds in both Adult Brown Belt Middleweight and Open Weight divisions.
- 1st Place 2014 NoGi Pan Ams in both Adult Brown Belt Middleweight and Open Weight divisions.
- I could list a lot of other other major accomplishments, but that would take hours and my fingers are hurting. Take my word for it, Danis is a bad ****.
This MMA vs BJJ match up should be both fun and exciting for the fans.
