Jiu-Jitsu Self Physical Therapy Technique for The Hand

Hands can become sore after Jiu-Jitsu practice or competition. The movements used on the opponent can lead to sore joints, specifically in the fingers. This happens when fingers grab and hold onto the sleeve of the opponent’s gi. The opponent naturally tries to resist. This results in a pulling and twisting motion of the fingers.

Jiu-Jitsu self physical therapy technique for the hand is a simple remedy that can bring relief. It can be done nearly anywhere, whether standing in line, sitting at a desk, or at home relaxing. The technique is easy to learn and requires no additional equipment.

Begin by straightening the affected finger. Grasp the affected fingertip between two fingers of the opposite hand. Gently pull and turn the affected finger clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on which direction provides pain relief. This movement is done gently and requires only a slight rotation of the affected finger. While rotating, slowly bend the affected finger toward the palm of the hand.
