Her camp already going at full steam, Jéssica Bate-Estaca has started her preparation for her May 11th UFC title fight in Curitiba. In order to pose a serious challenge to champion Rose Namajunas, Jéssica is investing on correcting details of her game.
A brown-belt of team PRVT, last Saturday Jéssica tested herself in a superfight at the SJJSAF South America Summer Cup, held in Rio de Janeiro. She faced GFTeam black-belt Rafaela Bertolot.
With a strong base, Jéssica went a good part of the match avoiding the energetic attacks of Rafaela, who, with her sharp closed guard, was attempting sweeps and attacks on the arm. With a zero-all tie persisting until the time ran out, the fight went into sudden-death mode, where Rafaela achieved the winning sweep.
“For me it was great,” said Jéssica afterwards, “because I was able to test some things about my jiu-jitsu. I saw that I’m messing some of them up, but I’m going to train at the gym to improve and be at 100% for MMA.”
