At some point or another, all of us have talked while rolling. Whether it’s a quick “Nah, not today” while you’re slipping out of a teammate’s armbar or a full-blown conversation, a bit of chatter while attempting simulated murder isn’t uncommon to hear. But is it a good idea to talk mid-roll, or could it be detrimental to your goals (and health)?
In this video, Chewy of Chewjitsu shares his own experience of why it could be a bad idea to be too chatty while rolling. Now, to be fair, the context of his story is important, and “coaching” someone through submitting you until you get injured is a lot different from making a quick joke, but take his words into consideration before you train next:
