It wasn’t too long ago that Josh Barnett submitted Dean Lister with a catch wrestling technique. This seemed to open up the Jiu-Jitsu community to the idea of looking outside themselves for new techniques.
We’ve previously written an article outlining catch wrestling and its history. However, the sport itself hasn’t seen much publicity until very recently.
Just today, Josh Barnett posted to his Facebook page, outlining an upcoming catch wrestling tournament in Southern California (you can learn more about it HERE). This event comes closely on the heels of another catch competition that just completed last week.
Is the sport finally getting the respect and attention it deserves? Or will it eventually fizzle out? (Personally, I hope it keeps growing).
