The Imanari roll is both a great entry to multiple submissions and a technique that will make you look like a superhero-assassin-ninja. Like any jiu-jitsu technique, though, before it looks cool, it will look really, really clumsy.
Thanks to this solo drill instructional from Sam Byrne of Movement for BJJ, though, you can practice the basics of the Imanari roll without completely embarrassing yourself in front of your teammates. Of course, you’ll eventually need to try this for real with your teammates, but this drill can help you get a head start in being comfortable with these tricky movements. Check it out!
