After winning last year’s Brazilian No-Gi Nationals, Igor Silva conquered his first major title in the gi as a black belt. At the 2010 Rio International Open the Muzio De Angelis student representing GFTeam made it to the top of the winners’ stand.

Igor won two of his matches in the super heavyweight division by armbar before the final against virtuoso Bruno Bastos. The fighter shrugged off the pressure from the crowd, landed two takedowns, swept and mounted his opponent to capture his long-awaited gold medal.
