After a lifetime of training and competing in the martial art, Igor Gracie has been promoted to the rank of a 5th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt!
The promotion took place two days ago, and it was done by none other than by Igor’s coach and one of his longest training partners – Renzo Gracie:

Born in 1980, Igor Gracie has been training Jiu-Jitsu for almost his entire life. He also competed frequently, both through the colored belts and after being promoted to the black belt rank as well.
For example, he won a bronze medal at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championships and the IBJJF Pan Championship.
Gracie also competed in MMA, having started his professional career in 2008 – representing Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for the following five years.
He fought in a number of promotions, including the Ring of Combat, Bellator, ONE Championship, and World Series of Fighting (today’s PFL). And in the end, he retired with a 5-4 pro MMA record.
Now 43 years old, Igor Gracie continues to compete in the IBJJF masters division.
He also teaches classes both in the Renzo Gracie’s “Blue Basement” and in his own academy, Igor Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
