In a statement posted to their website, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation revealed that they’ve suspended all events on the 2020 calendar “…until conditions are safe to resume competitions.”
In the statement, The IBJJF describes working with different levels of government and communities both local and international on the infrastructure of tournaments in a post COVID-19. All IBJJF members will have their membership fees waived retroactive to March 1,2020 and going until the organization resumes its event schedule.
In addition, The IBJJF releases a free document outlining guidelines for gyms to reopen safely during the pandemic. This serves not as a legal, but ethical outline for the benefit of students. An example of their training guidelines can be found below:
