Although it’s one of the more fundamental techniques we learn in jiu-jitsu, the technical standup is an objectively athletic movement. The mobility and agility required to push yourself up, balance, and maneuver your leg correctly to finish the movement is a challenge for many people, especially if they aren’t athletic or are a bit older.
