Roberto Abreu, nicknamed the ‘Cyborg’, used to be on Brazil’s national wrestling team, however he never regarded himself as a wrestler. As events transpired at the time, the wrestling team in his state did not have anyone in his weight division. This enabled Abreu to join the team belatedly. Suffice to say, he made the most of the opportunity and became one of Brazil’s leading wrestlers – almost by accident. Eventually though, Abreu knew that he had to return to Brazilian jiujitsu, after struggling to stay on his feet when facing Olympian wrestlers.
