Battle Born Jiu-Jitsu owner and black belt Justin William Calhoun was arrested on this week under suspicion of sex acts with a minor. According to Las Vegas Court Justice records, Calhoun is accused of felony charges of sexual assault against a child under 14, lewdness with a child under 14, and luring a child or mentally ill person with a computer for a sex act.
Battle Born Jiu-Jitsu caters to both children and adults.
Response from the community has been swift. Black belt and grappling champion Vanessa Wexler has already cancelled her previously announced seminar at Battle Born, and demanded refunds be issued immediately to all scheduled participants:
Battle Born describes itself as “an innovative gym unrestrained by conventional boundaries of typical grappling systems and dogmatic training approaches.”
Calhoun, a father, is currently being held in Nevada on $50,000.00 bail.
