Top pound-for-pound grappler Gordon Ryan has never been quiet about his wealth. But how much does he actually make? In a recent Instagram post, Ryan revealed how much money he expected to make this year from jiu-jitsu competition alone.
As he points out, the $200,000 Ryan expected to make in competition this year is not a particularly high amount considering he is by far the sport’s biggest (and highest paid) star. Unfortunately for Ryan and fans, he recently announced an indefinite leave of absence from competition due to ongoing health concerns. However, just because he’s not competing doesn’t mean Ryan won’t be financially set; he is still one of the most sought-after instructors on the planet, and his instructionals sell incredibly well.
Gordon Ryan had started off 2021 by extending his win streak with dominant victories over Roberto Jimenez and Vagner Rocha, both at Who’s Number One. Ryan had been scheduled to face Luiz Panza on May 28, but was replaced by his teammate Craig Jones following Ryan’s withdrawal. He was also slated to face Shinya Aoki in a grappling match for ONE Championship, but that match has been cancelled, as well.
