Gordon Ryan has been out of competition for quite some time due to health issues.
However, he is slowly getting back on track, and – according to a recent interview – we could be expecting to watch him compete soon!
Ryan shared a brief update about his health, revealing that he has to get his cardio back:
I still feel strong. I actually feel really strong, because I’m heavy and I’m lifting right now.
But I don’t have any cardio in my schedule, because I’m not training (Jiu-Jitsu).So, I’m super big, super heavy. And it’s just a matter of coming back (to Jiu-Jitsu), refreshing everything mentally, having my body catch up to where my mind is at.
He was even asked if he thinks he will ever take a loss.
And, well, Ryan answered in a truthful manner:
Well, if I compete until I’m 40, it’s pretty statistically unlikely that I won’t lose again.
I’m trying to make sure it doesn’t happen.(I don’t want to take a loss until I’m) 35 or 40 or whenever I retire.
Whenever my body just gives up.
Gordon Ryan recently had his first training session in months as well:
It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve been able to be on the mats. The longest by far I’ve ever been away.
I’m happier today than I’ve been in a long time.Rolled around a little with my old friend and mentor Brian Glick here at UFC Performance Institute.
Had some jiu jitsu, wrestling, and MMA legends in the session today as well.
