Following the unexpected break-up of the Danaher Death Squad several weeks ago, many of the team’s key players have moved to Austin, TX. Among those key players is, of course, current top pound-for-pound grappler Gordon Ryan. Ryan has previously announced his plans to open an academy in Austin with John Danaher and Garry Tonon; now he has announced where he plans to train and teach in Austin before he and Danaher can officially open their own academy. Ryan also announced that he plans to teach a class this Sunday, September 19.
Big announcement- Our temporary spot will be with our friends at @renzo_gracie_austin until we get a spot set up in southeast Austin. All you need to do to train with me @garrytonon and @danaherjohn is sign up at rga Austin with month to month payments. Once we get a final spot open, we will make a transition over. I’ll be there and teaching Sunday morning, the 19th. All are welcome
Ryan is temporarily setting up shop at Renzo Gracie Austin, a school run by black belt Brian Rebsch. It’s not yet clear if or when Danaher and Tonon might join Ryan at Renzo Gracie Austin.
Interestingly, Ryan and company will be competing for students with fellow former DDS members Craig Jones, Ethan Crelinsten, Nick Rodriguez, and Ryan’s younger brother Nicky Ryan. Jones and his team have also moved to Austin and have opened an academy, B-Team Jiu-Jitsu.
