A black-belt from 1996 and champion of the 1997 Pan in Hawaii (just one of his tens of gold medals), Bruno Severiano Ribeiro left us in the wee hours of this Thursday, Aug. 15, due to a pulmonary embolism. The former competitor was 47 years old.
A business administrator, Bruno was a member of the Severiano Ribeiro family, of movie theater chain fame. An alum of Gracie Barra, he had as notable teachers Jean Jacques Machado, Leão Teixeira, Carlinhos Gracie and Hélio Sonequinha, his former business partner.
At a recent seminar by Roger Gracie at Leão Teixeira Gávea, Bruno was the last to arrive. He rolled with Roger, put his friend’s chokes to the test and was the last one out, having put a smile on everyone’s face.
Graciemag sends its best wishes to the family and friends of Bruno Severiano Ribeiro.
