The Savannah-Chatham police officer, after all, had just shown about 15 girls how to repel attackers using Jiu-Jitsu
Many believe that it is important for kids to learn how to defend themselves, no matter their age or gender. One of the best classes that had taken place in a community occurred in the Savannah-Chatham police department for their summer young camp program.
The class for self defense was just one part of a four week long session. The sessions for this week and last week were designed for girls aged between eight and fourteen. In addition to the self defense advice and classes, the girls were also taken on a tour around the city and even given some financial tips. The presence of such classes helped make a serious difference in their lives as they were shown how they could make a positive difference in their communities. These classes were one of the best ways for these girls to learn more about what police officers do as well.
