Three-time PanAmerican champion Gianni Grippo and featherweight EBI champion Jon Calestine are set to match up in a 15-minute, 150-lb match at Kasai Pro 3.
The news was announced by FloGrappling and confirmed by Kasai Pro on social media.
The matchup comes after an unwanted competition drought for Calestine, who has claimed to have faced difficulties finding grapplers willing to compete against him.
The Daisuke Yamaji/ Renzo Gracie black belt will certainly have his skills tested against Grippo, who’s a Marcelo Garcia black belt and two-time UAEJJF World Pro champion.
Grippo and Calestine’s sub-only match will take place on Saturday, August 18. Craig Jones, AJ Agazarm, PJ Barch, Rousimar Palhares, Geo Martinez, and many other elite grapplers will also be competing at the event.
