Gi Soap Review Part II: Dragon’s Blood?

I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Dragon’s Blood bar from Gi Soap. This is probably the most unique bar of soap in existence. Let’s have a look at the ingredients to see why.

Dragons Blood extract, Manuka oil, Charcoal, Shea Butter, Hemp Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Soybean Oil, Water, Lye (sodium hydroxide).

The first three ingredients are very different from what would normally be finel3_18__20050.1423283049.1280.1280found in soap. Dragon’s Blood extract? Manuka oil? Charcoal? Let’s have a look at what they do.

Dragon’s Blood has a variety of uses. Though it can come from a variety of plants, the one used in Gi Soap is called: Dracaena cinnabari. This particular strand of Dragon’s Blood comes from the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean.

While there are many health claims for Dragon’s Blood, this strand actually has scientific evidence to back up some of these claims. For example, it has been found to be an effective cancer treatment, and is useful as an anti-diarrheal. But since you’re getting it in a soap, the benefits you would receive are that it is an effective anti-fungal, anti-viral, and assists in wound healing.

As for the Manuka oil, it has been found to be effective in fighting antibiotic resistant bacteria. The charcoal has been found to be an effective anti-toxin, and has numerous applications as such.

The fact that all of these are in one soap is pretty amazing. While using it, I noticed that my skin cleared up within a couple days. The smell is nice. It’s not a strong scent, but it’s pleasant.

I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone, but especially the grapplers since it’s more effective at staving off fungus, bacteria, and viruses than regular soap alone. If you’re putting time in on the mats, it’s important to keep all of that nastiness at bay. Be sure to pick yours up as soon as possible.
