Garry Tonon’s ONE Championship Title Fight Postponed for 2022

Garry Tonon was supposed to fight for a lightweight title at ONE Championship’s “ONE: X” event on December 5, against Thanh Le, in Singapore. However, due to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, Tonon will have to wait until 2022.
Chatri Sityodtong announced the news on social media:

Due to the record high viral outbreak in Singapore, ONE: X will now take place early next year instead of December 5. The Singapore Government continues to do an extraordinary job in managing the situation for the country. I am full of gratitude and appreciation for its incredible leadership and excellence. Please note that our regular shows for November and December are expected to continue as per usual. It is a tricky time for everyone in Singapore, but I am confident that we will all get through these times by working together with compassion, resilience, creativity, and patience. Majulah Singapura!

Garry Tonon is one of the most beloved Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes out there. His entertaining personality sits well with his grappling success; he’s an ADCC bronze medal winner and a multiple-time EBI champion.
However, he’s also a professional mixed martial arts athlete who’s been fighting since 2018. With that said, he hasn’t lost once! He has a 6-0 record; and even though he’s utilizing his Jiu-Jitsu quite a lot (check out his gnarly Heel Hook here), he’s respected for great striking precision as well.
