Legendary mixed martial arts (MMA) practitioner and legendary coach and philosopher Firas Zahabi stopped by Inside Quest recently where he openly discussed the warrior philosophy – the notion that the mind and body are inextricably connected and that one builds the mind by building the body. Zahabi purports that the physical components of Jiu Jitsu (and by extension wrestling) can be likened to a mental/intellectual sport (much like a game of chess) that is played out kinetically in/by the body. This philosophy of the physical mind is one that was notably supported by some of the world’s greatest philosophers including Plato and Aristotle (a student of Plato).
