In a devastating development for the jiu-jitsu community, Fight 2 Win has been forced to cancel F2W 138 due to coronavirus concerns. The promotion had intended to move forward with the Dallas event this weekend, but the venue, Gilley’s Dallas, decided to cancel all events for at least the next seven days.
F2W CEO Seth Daniels shared the following statement on social media informing followers of the development:
“Gilleys Ownership and insurance has decided to cancel F2W138 Dallas. I tried to talk them into different scenarios to where we could still do the event under the regulations set by Dallas County yesterday. They have decided to cancel our event and all other concerts and events at the venue no matter how big or small for. a minimum of 7 days.
There is nothing I can do about it canceling the event costs me $30,000 with all the money that has already been spent and is non refundable. I am working on a plan with Flograppling on what we can do to keep events rolling.
I am heart broken by this, this was the best Fight Card I have ever put together, I hope the world settles down and we are able to reschedule the entire event and all matches soon.
All refunds are being processed today and should hit your credit cards within business 5 days
As for future events I will update everyone on what is happening with each one as I know more info.
Whos Number One March 28th in Austin
Subversiv 3 April 4th in Miami
F2W139 April 17th in Philly“
Fight 2 Win 138 was set to be one of the most stacked cards in the promotion’s history, with a main event featuring Gianni Grippo vs. Matheus Gabriel and a co-main event featuring Rafael Lovato Jr. vs. Vinicius Ferreira, among other big-name matches.
The Jiu-Jitsu Times will continue to provide updates on the status of grappling events as we receive them.
