A tough injury at the biggest grappling event on the planet was, thankfully, just a hiccup in Ffion Davies’ competitive path, and now, she’s back to collecting some impressive hardware on the mats.
Over the weekend, Davies competed at the Dublin Open and brought home the gold, submitting all three of her opponents on the way to the top of the podium. The event marked the first time that Davies had competed since ADCC, where she was injured in the finals due to a toehold from Bianca Basilio. Davies herself had put on an unforgettable performance at the event, injuring Bia Mesquita with an armbar before making it to the finals.
Davies announced her successful return on social media:
“3 fights, 3 submissions at the Dublin Open great to be back after injury and to compete at home with my team @ecjja Thank you to my sponsors @bearfootjj @kingzeurope @kingzkimonos @yogaforbjj “
Here’s hoping we get to see even more of what Davies can do now that she’s back in action.
