Welsh jiu-jitsu athlete Ffion Davies is officially a black belt no-gi world champion, becoming the first UK black belt to earn the honor.
Davies, who was promoted to black belt just three weeks ago, submitted her way through two matches to reach the featherweight finals against Amanda Monteiro. A guard pass and a mount earned her a 7-0 victory, sending her to the top of the podium to make history.
This isn’t the first time Davies has seen victory as a black belt, either — She won gold at the Spain National Pro and then double gold at the Dublin International Open in the short time since she’s been promoted.
