The 2015 Pan Jiu-Jitsu championship took place in Irvine, California from March 12th to the 14th. The pan is the largest IBJJF tournament with great competitors flying from all over the world. The level of the competition was very high, from blue to black belt, and from juvenile to all masters divisions.

Even though I’m eligible to compete in the master 3 division, I decided this year to give a shot to qualify to compete at the adult worlds 2015. All black belt competitors must have at least 50 points (IBJJF ranking system) in order to qualify to compete.

I competed in the adult/feather weight, a division with great competitors such as: Gianni Grippo, Osvaldo Queixinho, Leonardo Saggioro, Vitor Paschoal…guys that i really admire for their Jiu-Jitsu. my first and only match was against Alliance’s Victor Genovesi, very tough young competitor, who defeated Gianni Grippo in the finals of the brown belt worlds in 2012.

Right in the beginning of the match I went for a fake pull to takedown and banged heads really hard. I had a flash knockout and woke up with him all over me. I looked at the referee, but I don’t think he realized what happened and the match continued. I was in survival mode for a little bit, and I tried to force myself out of bounds so I could take a little break because I got dizzy. The medics came in, and gave me some time to recuperate, and the match continued.
