The Eddie Bravo Invitational 3 will be taking place tomorrow on March 22nd in Los Angeles from the Orpheum Theater. With the release of the brackets, many fans are speculating that EBI 1 Champion Garry Tonon will square off against 2014 IBJJF NoGi World Champion Marcelo Mafra in the finals of EBI.
These two competitors squared off against each other in July 2014 as part of the Men’s Advanced Absolutes division at the Grapplers Quest UFC Fan Expo tournament. This match footage has likely been studied by both Tonon as well as 10th Planet’s Richie Martinez and Nathan Orchard. Mafra displayed a style that was very effective in neutralizing the aggressive, attacking game plan of Tonon.
This is definitely a match to watch before tomorrow’s EBI 3.
