EBI 11 “The Welterweights” is sure to make a major splash in the world of competitive fighting sports. Featuring a sixteen-man tournament, this is going to be a major event for anyone who enjoys EBI.
Accompanying the sixteen-man tourney is a bantamweight, four-man combat jiu-jitsu tournament that’s sure to offer something new in the field. If you’re a fan of fighting in general or combat jiu-jitsu in particular, this is going to be a must-watch event. The show will follow the night after UFC 209 and will be promoted on that show, which should lead to a much wider audience than is the norm.
“EBI 11 “The Welterweights” featuring Gordan Ryan is Sunday March 5 in Los Angeles. The show will include a regular EBI rules, 16 man, 170 pound tourney, exactly the way we’ve been doing it, plus I will also incorporate a 4 man “combat Jiu jitsu” tournament into the show as well (135 bantamweight, same day weigh in). Combat Jiu Jitsu (cjj) is exactly like ebi but with open palm strikes legal to the body and face once one of the combatants is grounded. No elbows, kicks or knees. If both combatants are standing, only grappling is allowed. Like the regular EBI matches, cjj will have 1 ten minute round with EBI OT rounds if necessary. No strikes are allowed in OT. Overtime in cjj will use regular EBI OT rules, no open palm strikes. I have 1 spot open for the 4 man cjj tourney, I’m looking for brown belts and black belts. Pro MMA fighters and amateur fighters can do cjj. Competitors will have to go thru blood work, physical, etc like in MMA fights, the commission will be involved. You can ko or tko with open palm strikes to the face or body. Big John & Mike Beltran will ref. It’s a 4 man tourney, winner take all. Winner gets 2k for each match he wins in regulation, 4K possible. $0 if winner of tourney wins both matches in OT. It’s gangster. It forces action. Tag someone who you’d want to see do this event. Or if you yourself think you got what it takes, leave a comment here. The show will be promoted during the UFC 209 broadcast, which will be the night before EBI. Thank you for the support!
