Breaking news, fight fans! Demian Maia will get a second chance at UFC gold when he takes on current welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley at UFC 214.
Demian Maia is riding a 7-fight win streak, having finished such big-name welterweights as Carlos Condit and Matt Brown. Maia’s first shot at a UFC strap was against Anderson Silva at UFC 112. Demian lost the bout via unanimous decision.
The match will be one of three title fights scheduled on the card — the other two being the long-awaited rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier and the second women’s featherweight title match, which will be between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Tonya Evinger.
UFC 214 will be going down live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on July 29.
