Stawweight Cynthia Calvillo is a force to be reckoned with!
Calvillo took on Pearl Gonzalez. The action started out immediately, with both fighters swinging. Late in the round Pearl landed a single leg takedown, but was unable to get a dominant position. Calvillo first tried to get the back, but then transitioned for a triangle. If she had thirty more seconds, she would have gotten it, but the bell saved Gonzalez from succumbing to a first round finish.

Round 2 also gave Calvillo a chance to showcase her submission skills against BJJ purple belt Pearl Gonzalez. Pearl tripped Cynthia, getting in mount and going for an armbar. However, Calvillo transitioned out and took Pearl’s back, forcing her to spend the rest of the round fighting off Cynthia’s RNC attempts.
What Calvillo couldn’t do in the second round she accomplished in the third. She took Pearl down and landed in the purple belt’s half guard. Pearl again tried to spin out, but again Cynthia took her back. This time, Gonzalez worked her arm under her opponent’s chin and got herself the tap.
This is the second time in about a month that Cynthia Calvillo has submitted an opponent to an RNC. She extends her undefeated record to 5-0!
Ladies and gentlemen, Team Alpha Male has one tough female on its hands!
