Not having fought since last October, when he was knocked out by Roy Nelson and subsequently announced his retirement, Mirko Cro Cop is toying with the idea of making his MMA return.
In an interview with American newspaper USA today, the Mirko “Cro Cop” Filopovic, now 37, revealed that he may soon reappear in the cage.
“Concerning my retirement from the UFC, I said it was my last fight for the UFC and last fight on the present contract, but I did not say, ‘I won’t keep fighting.’ I never said that. I think the best thing to say is that I was born to fight,” Filopovic is quoted as saying in the article.
“I feel like a little kid,” he continues. “I’m so happy. I’m training every day. I usually train twice a day, and Thursdays and Sundays are supposed to be my days off. But even on those days I’m training at least once. I have to do at least one session each day to be happy.”
Cro Cop is currently under contract to K-1 and has already had two fights this year, winning both of them. The former star of the now-defunct Pride FC promotion may again fight under the K-1 banner next month in Los Angeles.
