Purple belt action is already underway this Friday at the Long Beach pyramid, where the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship is taking place.
The big highlight of the female division was Strikeforce champion Cris Cyborg, widely regarded as the world’s greatest female MMA fighter, who took top spot on the winners podium on the day.
“This medal is worth as much as the belt,” says the champion.
Now Wellington Megaton’s daughter, Mackenzie Dern, secured gold in the featherweight division.
Check out the photos from Cyborg’s debut, the statements she made, and all the ins and outs from the competition, on the GRACIEMAG at the Worlds Blog.
