Craig Jones Out Of WNO, Replaced By William Tackett Against Tye Ruotolo

This week’s Who’s Number One card will no longer feature Craig Jones vs. Tye Ruotolo after health issues forced Jones to withdraw from the event.

FloGrappling has announced that new black belt William Tackett will be replacing Jones against Ruotolo and that the match will be moved to serve as the co-main event. The previous co-main event between Rafael Lovato Jr. and Gilbert Burns will now take the main event slot.

In a social media post, Jones said that he was “one of the unlucky ones” and had an adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine, resulting in fluid buildup in his abdomen.

Jones is also currently working as an assistant coach on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, teaming up with fellow Australian Alexander Volkanovski.

Tackett will be making a quick turnaround from last week’s main event at F2W 171, where he faced Vagner Rocha and battled to a narrow split decision loss.

Though fans will undoubtedly be disappointed by the loss of Jones on the card, Tackett and Ruotolo are two of the top up-and-coming young stars in jiu-jitsu. Tackett is nineteen and was promoted to black belt at the end of March, while Ruotolo is eighteen and was promoted to brown belt last October. Both athletes have achieved notable wins against decorated black belts, and this will be a can’t-miss match.

Who’s Number One: Lovato vs. Burns will take place on Friday, April 30.
