The ONE submission grappling match between Tye Ruotolo and Dagi Arslanaliev had a… Weird and controversial ending.
As Ruotolo submitted Arslanaliev twice in the same match.
The bout started with the two athletes wrestling, with Arslanaliev eventually establishing a body lock. However, Ruotolo threatened to counter with a throw, so Arslanaliev abandoned the grip fast enough.
Ruotolo went for another throw. It failed, but he managed to transition to attacking Arslanaliev’s legs.
Tye transitioned to a Reverse Triangle Choke, which Dagi quickly escaped. Tye then got a great Heel Hook bite on his heel.
But then, in a controversial turn of events, it seemed that Arslanaliev tapped. So, Ruotolo let go of the submission.
However, the fight wasn’t called off and it appeared that Arslanaliev was confused as well. So, the bout went on.
Ruotolo quickly jumped on Arslanaliev’s back and locked up a Rear Naked Choke.
Arslanaliev tapped out and Ruotolo got yet another win.
