The UFC 229 fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor is one of the biggest ones in UFC history. Khabib tapped Conor out and then lunged into the audience to “settle the differences” with some of the people who supported his opponent.
However, in the weeks and months leading up to the fight, it was Conor who took the lead in the “ugly side of business” – through extensive trash talking.

American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) head coach Javier Mendez revealed how he trained Nurmagomedov to deal with McGregor’s trash talk:

When the fight was announced, I would tell Khabib: “He’s gonna come after you, your family, your country, your religion, your father… You know even your manager and maybe even me. But he’s coming after you and I want you to be prepared.
Stay relaxed. Don’t let it boil you up, get you upset because if you do that he wins.”

Khabib remained calm at every instance of Conor’s trash talk thereon out, Mendez explains:

Every single time, Khabib was cool and calm. [He] didn’t react because he was trained from two months out that this was gonna happen.
So, as it started happening it wasn’t affecting him very much at all. As a matter of fact, Conor got checkmated quite a bit.
