Phil Brooks (a.k.a. CM Punk) has one fewer loss on his record after his unanimous decision defeat against Mike Jackson at UFC 255 was revealed to have been overturned.
MMA Junkie has reported that they put in a request through the Freedom of Information Act and later confirmed through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation that the June 2018 fight result has been changed to a no-decision.
Jackson reportedly tested positive for THC, which is found in marijuana, on the night of the fight, though the update hadn’t been made public before now. After the positive test result, the decision was overturned, and Jackson was suspended for three months, retroactive to the time of the test.
The news comes just a day after the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) made the decision to stop penalizing combat sports athletes for marijuana use. Illinois, where UFC 255 took place, had and still has a zero-tolerance policy for marijuana use for fighters.
Neither fighter has fought since they faced off at UFC 255
